The annual Report to Congress on International Religious Freedom has just been issued. This week on State of Belief, Interfaith Alliance’s radio show and podcast, we will discuss the highlights – and the lowlights – among the report’s findings.
Our host Rev. Welton Gaddy will be joined by our nation’s Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, Rabbi David Saperstein. They’ll discuss violations of religious freedom by foreign governments as well as U.S. policies to promote religious freedom around the world. CLICK HERE FOR EXTENDED INTERVIEW VIDEO AND TRANSCRIPT
Welton will also speak with NAACP Houston Branch President Dr. James Douglas about a recent “White Lives Matter” protest on the doorstep of his organization’s offices. The protesters brought their guns, Confederate flags and “Make America Great” hats and chanted “White Lives Matter.” There may have only been 20 or so of them, but the provocative protest seems to signal a new low in public discourse.
Finally, Welton will speak with two individuals who are doing their part to help in the wake of the disastrous flooding in Louisiana. You’ll hear from Drew Konow of the Religious Institute and Sarah Bounds, an activist in Baton Rouge, about which Louisianans were most vulnerable to the flooding and which areas have received assistance, and which are still in need.
