Religious Freedom’s Day in Court: Jay Michaelson’s Hobby Lobby Update
Last week Dr. Jay Michaelson – an activist, attorney, and academic expert on a host of issues in the world of religion and politics – gave us a preview of the Supreme Court case Hobby Lobby v. Sebelius. This week, he’ll share his perspective after sitting through Tuesday’s oral arguments. Tune in to hear about what he heard while watching the Court in action and find out his hypothesis for the future of religious freedom and women’s rights in America.

Bending the Arc Toward Justice: Stosh Cotler Takes The Helm
When Stosh Cotler took over as the CEO of the Bend The Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice, she inherited not only a growing progressive social justice organization, but also a centuries-old tradition of Jewish political activism. She’ll talk to Welton about how she’s bringing that tradition to bear on the issues of the day, particularly on the continued work to pass immigration reform. Together, they’ll look into a communal attempt, spearheaded in part by Bend The Arc, to change the mind of the most prominent Jewish opponent of comprehensive immigration reform: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.

Ring of Fire: Mike Papantonio and What’s Next for the Progressives
Mike Papantonio
– lawyer, entrepreneur, and progressive media activist – and Welton have a long history to reminisce on, but there’s too much happening right now for them to dwell only on the past (Ring of Fire and State of Belief both date back to the Air America network.) This week, Mike and Welton walk through the many challenges facing the progressive movement today – from the concerning outlook for the 2014 midterm elections to Hobby Lobby case and the future of religious freedom. Don’t miss their insights into the world of progressive media and activism.
