Dr. Robert P. Jones, founder and CEO of the Public Religion Research Institute, on a new survey his organization conducted together with Religion News Service, revealing that many Americans do not know much about the religious beliefs of the current slate of presidential candidates. He discusses his findings on how important a candidate’s being religious is to Americans, as well as how the findings might impact the Republican primary and next year’s presidential election.

Rev. Candace Chellew-Hodge, founder and editor of Whosoever: An Online Magazine for GLBT Christians, and pastor of Jubilee! Circle United Church of Christ in Columbia, S.C., on the inconsistencies between federal law, which limits marriage to between “one man and one woman,” and legislation passed in various states, including most recently New York, legalizing gay marriage. She discusses challenges to New York’s new marriage equality law and struggles to repeal the federal “Defense of Marriage Act.”
