This weekend on State of Belief, television producer and liberal advocate Norman Lear joins host Welton Gaddy to discuss his latest project, Born Again American. Plus, we celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln with a look at the role faith played in the president’s life.  And, in honor of Charles Darwin, a very special intersection awards dedicated to the debate over evolution.

Historian and author Ronald C. White,  Jr. talks with Welton about President Abraham Lincoln’s thoughts on God and organized religion.  Ronald C. White, Jr. is the author of the new book, A. Lincoln: A Biography.  He is a Visiting Professor of History at UCLA.

Plus, Interfaith Alliance’s William Blake joins Welton in studio for a look at the continuing debate over evolution versus creationism.  Find out who some of the worst offenders are in this special edition of our intersection awards in honor of Charles Darwin.  Do you have a story you’d like to nominate for our intersection awards?  Write to us!

And, don’t miss Welton’s conversation with longtime liberal advocate Norman Lear. Norman Lear has a new project called Born Again American dedicated to helping all Americans become more involved citizens.  Norman Lear was the producer of All in the Family, Maude, The Jeffersons and Good Times and he is the founder of People For the American Way and Declare Yourself.  Visit Born Again American to learn more.
