In early July, David Lane, the Christian Nation activist, organized an event for conservative evangelical pastors called “Rediscovering God in America.” Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul participated in the event, which sought to galvanize the extreme Evangelical voter bloc while effectively declaring war on moderate Republicans.
