As the midterm elections draw near, investigative journalist Greg Palast has published an explosive report on an astoundingly broad scheme to disenfranchise voters based on “double voting” – where having a name similar to that of a registered voter in another state could be enough to deprive you of your vote.

The report is titled Jim Crow Returns, and emphasizes that the disproportionate number of African Americans, Hispanics, and Asian Americans who share common names ensures that this purge will affect minorities the most.

Palast is a New York Times best-selling author whose books include The Best Democracy Money Can Buy and Billionaires and Ballot Bandits.
